Hallowing (from the Saint Brendan's Liturgy)
Celebrant: As we prepare for sacred encounter,
let us join together in hallowing
a time between times
and a place between places,
where spirit and flesh intersect
and divine and human embrace.
Celebrant: Within this circle, all are welcome:
ALL: STRANGERS AND FRIENDS,
MALE AND FEMALE,
OLD AND YOUNG,
BELIEVERS AND SKEPTICS.
Celebrant: Within this circle, paths unite:
ALL: ANCIENT AND MODERN,
MATERIAL AND SPIRITUAL,
INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNAL,
HUMAN AND DIVINE.
Celebrant: Within this circle, distinctions blur:
ALL: BETWEEN THE PAST AND THE PRESENT,
BETWEEN THE NOW AND THE NOT YET,
BETWEEN EARTH AND HEAVEN,
BETWEEN THIS WORLD
AND THE OTHERWORLD.
Celebrant: Within this circle, we invoke:
ALL: THE BLESSINGS OF THE CREATOR
UPON ALL OF CREATION.
Celebrant: So let there be peace in the north,
ALL: AND PEACE IN THE SOUTH,
Celebrant: peace in the west,
ALL: AND PEACE IN THE EAST,
Celebrant: peace throughout the world,
ALL: AND PEACE IN EACH OF US.
